BARBERA
The first official mention of Barbera can be found in a treatise
dated 1798 which considered Barbera as one of the great quality
red grapes. However, the earliest evidence of Barbera is to be
found in unofficial historical sources, in this case heraldry.
This grape variety soon became the Piedmontese variety par excellence
and its wine was the undisputed protagonist of the farmhouse tables,
becoming synonymous with everyday life in Piedmont hills
.
